On October 28, 2025 (local time), Japan made public a roster of potential projects as part of its ambitious $550 billion investment plan in the United States. For the first time, it revealed detailed proposals that are eligible for financial backing under the key frameworks of the U.S.-Japan trade pact.

Based on a fact sheet released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, renowned Japanese firms like SoftBank Group, Westinghouse Electric, and Toshiba Corporation are set to initiate investment projects spanning energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and critical minerals. The scale of individual projects varies widely, from $350 million up to a staggering $100 billion.

The list encompasses 21 strategic projects, with energy-related endeavors taking center stage. Notably, Westinghouse Electric is planning to embark on AP1000 nuclear reactor and small modular reactor projects, with investments nearing $100 billion.

In the AI sector, Mitsubishi Electric is poised to supply power systems for AI data centers. Meanwhile, Panasonic Corporation has outlined plans to invest up to $15 billion in energy storage solutions.

On the same day, U.S. President Trump announced that Toyota would construct automotive factories at multiple sites across the United States, with investments surpassing $10 billion.
