On September 25, the Financial Times reported that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, are making calculated moves to foster closer relationships with Donald Trump. This strategy, however, might be merely a short-term tactic designed to serve their individual interests.
It has come to light that, following the deterioration of Elon Musk's ties with Trump, both Zuckerberg and Altman have paid numerous visits to the White House. Their motive is to garner support that would not only open up new business avenues but also help them sidestep regulatory obstacles. At present, the commercial ambitions of Meta and OpenAI dovetail with Trump's political agenda. Zuckerberg has committed to substantial investments within the United States, while Altman has accompanied Trump on official trips and engaged in state-related activities.
Despite these efforts, skepticism persists within Trump's inner circle regarding the two CEOs. Moreover, both Meta and OpenAI are grappling with challenges such as antitrust litigation.
