Microsoft is set to incorporate artificial intelligence models from Anthropic into its office AI assistant, Copilot, in a move that deepens its strategic partnerships. Beginning Wednesday, enterprise customers will gain the flexibility to select either OpenAI or Anthropic models for specific tasks within Microsoft's Copilot AI assistant suite. Previously, Microsoft had been at the forefront of commercializing AI for office settings, largely thanks to its partnership with OpenAI, as all Copilot tools were exclusively powered by OpenAI's models. By including Anthropic, one of OpenAI's primary competitors, Microsoft will enhance its range of model offerings. At present, Microsoft is reassessing the terms of its partnership with OpenAI, while also advancing the development of its proprietary AI models.
