On September 24, during the 2025 AI Industry and Empowering New-Type Industrialization Conference—which took place on September 23—Wang Aihua, Deputy Chief Engineer at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, revealed the projected scale of China’s AI industry. According to the data, China’s AI industry surpassed 900 billion yuan in scale in 2024, marking a 24% year-on-year increase. By September 2025, the number of AI enterprises in China had exceeded 5,300, making up 15% of the global total and establishing a comprehensive industrial ecosystem that spans foundational infrastructure, model frameworks, and industry applications. Moving forward, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology will continue to bolster industrial oversight, clarify the industry’s developmental landscape, monitor industrial trends in real time, precisely pinpoint risks and opportunities, and offer robust support for government policymaking and the industry’s sustainable growth.
