At the WWDC 2025 developers conference, Apple confirmed that macOS 26 Tahoe will be the last major version to support Intel processor-based Macs. Starting with macOS 27, released in 2026, Apple's desktop system will no longer be compatible with Intel Macs and will only support devices with Apple Silicon chips. However, Apple will still provide 3 years of security updates for Intel Macs until autumn 2028.
