On August 7, Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), asserted that the trade agreement between the European Union and the United States has yet to yield tangible benefits for the German automotive sector. Despite the agreement, the 27.5% tariff on passenger cars and auto parts, imposed since April and May, continues to weigh heavily on German automakers, suppliers, and transatlantic trade. Wissmann urged the United States to lift these tariffs and stressed the significance of promptly implementing subsidy measures.
