On July 31, 36Kr Auto revealed that Mercedes-Benz aims to introduce an ultra-long-range plug-in hybrid vehicle tailored for the Chinese market, with initial plans to collaborate with Geely Automobile in developing its plug-in hybrid system. Benz is considering adopting Geely's Lotus sports car's plug-in hybrid technology solution, known as the "Luyao" solution. This innovative approach primarily relies on electric motors and supports autonomous fast charging while driving, offering an impressive comprehensive range exceeding 1,100 kilometers. Should this partnership materialize, it would mark another significant milestone in the adoption of Chinese core technologies by international luxury automotive brands, following the successful collaborations between Audi and Huawei, and Volkswagen and XPeng. This development would further underscore the growing influence of Chinese technology within the global automotive industry. However, Benz has since responded that these reports are not accurate.
