On July 11, 2025, during the China Automotive Forum, Fu Bingfeng, the Executive Vice President of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), launched a scathing critique of automakers' misleading weekly sales rankings, cautioning that these rankings could gravely distort the true state of the industry. He posed questions about how companies procure daily sales data from competitors and highlighted the irrationality of disclosing such information. Prior to this, CAAM had issued a recommendation urging companies to cease publishing weekly sales rankings to forestall fragmented information from fostering biased interpretations and minimizing unnecessary market disruptions. Instead, CAAM advocates for companies to release data in alignment with monthly, quarterly, or annual cycles, which conform to the operational norms of the automotive industry, thereby ensuring its healthy and stable growth.
