NASA and SpaceX have jointly announced that Crew-11, the seventh commercial crewed mission, is scheduled to launch at 12:09 PM EDT on July 31. This mission will employ a Falcon 9 rocket to propel the Endeavour Crew Dragon spacecraft from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Endeavour will carry four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), with mission commander Zena Cardman making her debut flight and Oleg Platonov, an astronaut from the Russian Space Agency, joining the crew. To bolster landing safety, the Endeavour is equipped with the cutting-edge Drogue 3.1 parachute system, having already successfully completed five crewed missions.
The launch date has been advanced by two weeks from the initial plan to ensure greater operational flexibility for the ISS and to secure a time window for subsequent cargo missions.
