Nissan Motor Co. and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., also known as Foxconn, are engaged in discussions aimed at collaborating on the manufacturing of electric vehicles in Japan. This partnership could potentially save Nissan's Oppama Plant in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, from being shut down. The Oppama Plant, which has been in operation since 1961, serves as a pivotal production hub for Nissan, with an annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles, primarily manufacturing models like the "Note". This collaboration is anticipated to enhance the plant's operational efficiency and safeguard Japan's domestic supply chain for automotive components.
