BMW has announced a recall of over 70,000 electric vehicles in the United States due to a critical software flaw in their electric drive motors. The recall covers the 2022-2025 i4, 2022-2024 iX, 2023-2024 i7, and 2024 i5 models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles are at risk of high-voltage system failure, potentially causing a sudden loss of power while driving. To address this issue, BMW will offer free software updates to vehicle owners via Over-The-Air (OTA) remote upgrades or through authorized dealerships.
