Tesla has made its official debut in the Indian market, with the initial shipment of Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive versions having already arrived from China. The company anticipates the opening of showrooms in July. This milestone is a direct result of an accord reached between Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their February meeting. Despite India's relatively small share in the electric vehicle market, the potential of the country's automotive consumer base is immense. Tesla further intends to establish a Supercharger network and allocate spare parts to support its Indian operations. It's worth noting that these vehicles are sourced from the Shanghai Gigafactory. India has reduced the import tariff on foreign cars to 15%, but stipulates that companies must invest in and meet certain local standards. Previously, this tariff stood at a whopping 110%.
