Marelli, a significant supplier to Nissan primarily known for its automotive interiors and lighting equipment, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States with the aim of restructuring its business. Supported by roughly 80% of its creditors, the company has secured a commitment for $1.1 billion in new financing. During this restructuring period, Marelli's ongoing operations will remain unaffected, and secured debts will be fully discharged. Upon the conclusion of the proceedings, which include a 45-day overbid period, the new financing creditors will assume ownership of the company. Marelli, currently controlled by KKR, was established in 2019 through the merger of Italy's Magneti Marelli and Japan's Calsonic Kansei.
