Research firm New AutoMotive's preliminary data released on Wednesday revealed a stark decline in Tesla's new car sales in the UK, with a drop of over 45% compared to the same period last year. In May 2023, sales reached just 1,758 units, significantly underperforming the 3,244 units sold in May 2022. This decrease in market share can be partly attributed to the brand damage caused by CEO Elon Musk's support for far-right political views in Europe. Despite this, Tesla continues to reign as the top-selling pure electric vehicle brand in the UK this year.
