Volkswagen has announced a restructuring of its German operations in response to fluctuating demand, anticipating that around 20,000 employees will opt for early retirement by the end of the decade. Gunnar Kilian, Volkswagen's Head of Human Relations, disclosed at an employee gathering in Wolfsburg that this development signifies the smooth progression of the company's restructuring initiative. "By achieving substantial cost reductions at the Wolfsburg plant and implementing socially responsible downsizing across six German plants, we are expediting our transformation," Kilian stated. He further noted that contracts have already been formalized, specifying that approximately 20,000 employees will depart by 2030.
