On May 27, Beijing made a significant announcement regarding the allocation of an additional 20,000 new energy passenger vehicle quotas, supplementing the existing 40,000 quotas, to address the demands of households without cars. This announcement, made on the 26th, has elicited an overwhelmingly positive response from the market. One auto dealership alone received inquiries from 8 consumer groups within a single hour, from 3 to 4 pm on a weekday, with 6 of these groups being first-time applicants for new energy vehicle quotas. Both physical dealership traffic and online inquiries have witnessed a remarkable surge across various dealerships.
The general manager of a particular auto 4S store anticipates a peak in customer traffic between July and August. Furthermore, following the official release of the quotas, he expects customer traffic to increase by more than 30% compared to the same period last year.
