CPCA: China's Passenger Vehicle Retail Sales Soar 12% YoY and 18% MoM from May 1 to 18

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), retail sales of passenger vehicles in China surged to 932,000 units from May 1 to 18, marking a 12% increase year-on-year and an 18% jump month-on-month. Since the start of this year, cumulative retail sales have totaled 7.804 million units, up 8% year-on-year. During the same period, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 484,000 units, reflecting a 32% year-on-year growth and a 15% month-on-month increase, with a market penetration rate of 52%. Since the beginning of 2023, cumulative retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles have amounted to 3.808 million units, representing a 35% year-on-year rise.
