Volkswagen is set to overhaul its electric vehicle naming convention starting from 2026, with plans to phase out the "ID" prefix. Martin Sander, a board member of the Volkswagen brand, disclosed that the concept cars ID.2 all and ID.Every1 will receive new monikers upon their transition to mass production. This decision is prompted by the current naming system's complexity, which has the potential to generate market confusion. Moving forward, the ID.2 could be rebranded as Polo, while the ID.1 might draw inspiration from names like Lupo, Fox, or Up!. Furthermore, Martin Sander emphasized that despite the fierce competition in the Chinese market, Volkswagen remains committed to sustainable growth rather than pursuing short-term market share gains.
