On April 21st, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Shanghai Federation of Modern Service Industries jointly unveiled the 2025 Shanghai Smart Automobile Development White Paper. The white paper highlights that Shanghai's production of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged to 1.225 million units in 2024, representing a remarkable 68% of the city's overall vehicle output, signaling a substantial penetration rate. During that year, Shanghai's total vehicle production amounted to 1.808 million units, accounting for 6% of the national total. The swift advancement of NEVs has emerged as a prominent feature within the automotive industry.
