Scania has reinitiated its acquisition plan for the heavy-duty industrial battery pack production division of the now-bankrupt Northvolt, with the financial details remaining undisclosed. Last month, Northvolt filed for bankruptcy in Sweden, marking one of the country's largest corporate failures. As part of Volkswagen's truck division, Traton, Scania originally intended to purchase this division for $6 million but paused the deal amidst Northvolt's financial troubles. The acquisition encompasses Northvolt's factory in Poland and its R&D center in Sweden, affecting around 260 employees. Scania emphasized that this move aligns with its strategic objectives and will bolster its supply of electrified products in the off-road sector, while ensuring that Northvolt Systems Industry's daily operations remain unaffected.
