Lucid Motors, an electric vehicle startup, successfully outbid competitors to acquire the Arizona factory and select assets of Nikola in a bankruptcy auction, paying a total of approximately $30 million. As part of the acquisition, Lucid intends to offer employment opportunities to roughly 300 former Nikola employees. The company has clarified that it will not assume Nikola's hydrogen truck business or its customer base. This strategic move aims to bolster Lucid's manufacturing, warehousing, testing, and research and development (R&D) capabilities.
