On April 7, BYD triumphantly announced that its sales of pure electric vehicles (EVs) in the first quarter of 2025 soared to 416,400 units, marking a substantial year-on-year growth of 38.74%. This achievement propels BYD past Tesla, securing the position of global sales champion for pure electric vehicles. Notably, BYD first outpaced Tesla in the fourth quarter of 2024 and has now consolidated its lead with another strong performance in the first quarter of this year. Conversely, Tesla reported sales of 336,700 vehicles in the same period, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 13%. BYD's commitment to electrification continues to gather momentum, underscored by this remarkable milestone.
