Ms. Jin's Tesla Model X encountered limited power issues shortly after the expiration of its warranty period. The Tesla service center informed her that replacing the motor would incur a cost of over 50,000 yuan, which would be borne by her personally. Mr. Jin, Ms. Jin's husband, purchased the vehicle in 2018 and benefitted from an extensive warranty of either 8 years or 160,000 kilometers, whichever came first. During the warranty period, the car's rear motor was replaced free of charge. However, shortly after the warranty expired, power-related issues emerged once again.

Ms. Jin contends that, in accordance with Zhejiang's consumer rights and interests protection law, the warranty period for replaced parts should be recalculated. Tesla, on the other hand, maintains that the warranty has expired. Despite Tesla offering a discount, Ms. Jin declined the offer. Experts from the Zhejiang Consumer Protection Committee have stated that Tesla should assume responsibility for replacing the motor free of charge.

Ms. Jin intends to protect her rights through legal means.
