On March 12, Kyodo News announced that Toyota Motor Corporation intends to unveil three new electric vehicles (EVs) in the European market by 2025, setting its sights on Tesla as its primary competitor. Initially, Toyota anticipated that by 2026, the share of its EV sales in Europe would surge from the current 5% to 20%. However, this ambitious target may now be pushed back to 2027. At a press conference held in Brussels, Toyota presented three EV models: the revamped "bZ4X," which is poised for imminent release in Japan, and the "C-HR+" boasting a driving range of approximately 600 kilometers. Furthermore, Toyota has outlined plans to introduce three additional EVs in Europe by 2026. Nevertheless, given the expiration of purchase subsidy policies and the delayed development of charging infrastructure in certain countries, Toyota anticipates that its timeline for achieving a 20% sales share of EVs in Europe might be extended by one year.
