The Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, in collaboration with four other departments, has jointly released the "Guidelines for Promoting High-Quality Development of Public Transport in Shanghai". These guidelines, grounded in the core principles of "people-centricity, integration, coordination, and innovation", seek to elevate the quality of public transportation through a comprehensive suite of initiatives. Key measures encompass implementing regionally tailored development strategies, enhancing the transportation network, and fostering smart and eco-friendly travel options. The objectives outlined in the guidelines include achieving a 58% coverage rate for the central city's permanent population within a 600-meter radius of rail transit stations, ensuring that newly constructed rail transit stations are complemented by bus stops within 50 meters, accelerating the development of the Eastern Hub, advancing the "One City, One Hub" planning initiative in five emerging cities, and refining the transfer and connectivity systems. Furthermore, the guidelines stipulate that the proportion of accessible buses should surpass 70% and that travel service platforms, such as "One Ticket Pass" and "One QR Code Pass", will be established to offer citizens diverse, seamless, controllable, user-friendly, intelligent, and eco-friendly public transportation services.
