Volkswagen is initiating a recall of 177,493 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles from the 2024 to 2025 model years in the United States. The recall is necessary due to a potential issue where engine covers may have been improperly installed during repairs, leading to a risk of them loosening and increasing the likelihood of fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has brought this matter to Volkswagen's attention and mandated that dealers remove the engine covers at no cost to the customers to address the issue.
