On Wednesday, the White House officially announced that President Trump, in response to a request from industry leaders, will grant a one-month exemption from the auto tariffs imposed on Mexico and Canada. According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, all vehicles imported under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will qualify for this exemption. Despite the reciprocal tariffs scheduled to take effect on April 2nd, the President has opted to provide a one-month grace period, at the behest of concerned companies, to mitigate any potential economic disadvantages they may face.
