Zeekr is internally pushing forward a boxy, hardcore off-road SUV project and has begun aligning requirements with multiple suppliers, aiming to benchmark the vehicle against the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. No official code name has been announced for the project, which remains in its early matching phase and has not yet received official approval; if progress proceeds smoothly, mass production is expected between 2028 and 2029. The new vehicle is planned to adopt either a body-on-frame or semi-body-on-frame architecture, leveraging independent torque control through electric drive, long-travel air suspension, and a full suite of intelligent escape algorithms to create a new luxury off-road technical approach—one that balances urban luxury driving quality with complex-terrain capability rather than simply replicating hardcore off-road designs. Zeekr had previously signaled that it would focus on exploring the hardcore off-road SUV direction, and this model represents a key move to fill the gap in its product matrix for the hardcore off-road category. At present, no official conclusions have been reached on exterior design, powertrain parameters, or pricing range, and the project may still be adjusted later. The domestic new-energy hardcore off-road segment is becoming increasingly crowded, while the overseas million-yuan-class luxury hardcore off-road market is still dominated by the fuel-powered Mercedes-Benz G-Class; Zeekr will enter the high-end hardcore market with a new-energy approach and engage in direct competition.
