Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is set to undergo adjustments in Europe, with unified EU approval expected next month. The Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) has approved several updates: the driver-settable maximum speed offset will be reduced from +50% to +10%, automatically resetting to 0% on each startup, while other speed-related functions will be disabled by default. In addition, the system will be renamed Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD). These adjustments apply only to vehicles equipped with HW4 hardware and will be rolled out via OTA updates. Assessments indicate that the changes will have no impact on system operation or driving performance, no modification to existing approval documents is required, and the nine EU countries that reference its approval framework have been notified. These adjustments align with Germany's previous approval requirements. Currently, 10 EU member states have approved the system, with populous countries such as Germany and Italy expressing support. The EU is expected to hold a vote of all member states in December; Tesla needs support from at least 15 member states whose combined population accounts for over 65% of the EU's total population in order to secure approval.
