Porsche has announced a new milestone in its pilot project for high-voltage battery recycling, having manufactured battery cells for the first time using fully recycled cathode active materials such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese recovered from end-of-life high-voltage batteries. These cells are currently undergoing real-world operational testing. Since May 2026, end-of-life high-voltage batteries collected by Porsche Centers in Germany have been recycled using an innovative water-based process, with the regenerated raw materials trackable through a dedicated account. It is expected that starting from 2028, these recycled materials will be used in the production of new battery cells for Porsche and its partners.
