On October 27, Reuters broke the news that Latvia and Slovakia have recently given the green light to Tesla's driver assistance software one after another. Latvia has thus become the tenth EU member state to grant approval for this system and the eighteenth country worldwide to do so. Previously branded as FSD (Supervised), the software has undergone a name change in Europe and is now known as Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD). As the deployment of this technology progresses, its safety concerns have come under intense scrutiny. Media test drives have brought to light that vehicles equipped with this system still necessitate driver intervention in specific scenarios. The transportation authority in Latvia clarified that TAD is a Level 2 driver assistance system, which mandates that drivers must consistently keep an eye on traffic conditions.
