Reuters, citing Manager Magazin, reported that Volkswagen is considering introducing the software architecture used in its China-market models to its European mass-market vehicles, a move that could marginalize its U.S. partner Rivian. This software architecture, jointly developed by Volkswagen and Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng, may serve as the technological foundation for future models under Volkswagen's Volkswagen, Skoda, and Cupra brands. Volkswagen brand head Thomas Schäfer is expected to present this proposal to management, which would cover approximately three-quarters of the next-generation models across the three brands.
