On October 22, En Ta Etta, a product manager born after 2000 who works for Xpeng MONA, shared a video on a social media platform, expressing her apologies for repeatedly using the term 'Lao Deng' during the MONA L05 pre-sale launch event held on October 15. En Ta mentioned that she had come across numerous comments containing criticism and suggestions. Some individuals felt uneasy about the term 'Lao Deng', while others cast doubts on her professionalism. There were even those who launched personal attacks on her appearance and age, resulting in her remarks casting a negative light on the L05 product in the eyes of the public.
She clarified that within the team, 'Lao Deng' was merely a joke aimed at poking fun at the rigid thinking prevalent in car design. However, she failed to anticipate that using this term in a public setting would cause discomfort. With utmost sincerity, she apologized and vowed to exercise greater caution with her words in the future.
It's worth noting that the MONA L05 marks the third model in the Xpeng MONA series and stands as the first large five-seater SUV. It offers both pure electric and super extended-range powertrains, with a starting price set at 169,800 yuan. The official launch of this vehicle is scheduled for October 29.
