On October 20, information from Tianyancha revealed that Shanghai Li Auto Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing Li Auto Co., Ltd., was awarded a utility model patent on October 16. This patent, named "Safety Force-Limiting Structure, Force-Limiting Buckle Mechanism, Seat Belt Assembly, Seat, and Vehicle," is now in effect. According to the patent abstract, the spool remains stationary when the tensile force is insufficient to overcome the resistance. However, during a collision, as the tensile force intensifies and surpasses the resistance, the spool rotates, releasing the belt or buckle connector. This action absorbs energy and mitigates the impact's severity, a crucial aspect in vehicle safety.
Moreover, Tianyancha also disclosed that BYD Co., Ltd.'s patent, titled "A Seat Belt Force-Limiting System, Seat Assembly, and Vehicle," was published on the same day, October 16, and is currently pending review. BYD's innovative patent solution enables the adjustment of the force-limiting state based on the seat backrest angle. Specifically, when the backrest angle reaches or exceeds a predetermined threshold, the force-limiting value decreases compared to scenarios where the angle remains below the threshold. This adaptive approach enhances passenger safety by tailoring the seat belt's response to the occupant's seating posture.
