The Equipment Industry Department No.1 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has officially opened the floor for public comments on five mandatory national standards, encompassing 'Automotive Data Security Requirements.' Notably, the draft for public review concerning 'Installation Requirements for External Lighting and Light Signaling Devices of Motor Vehicles and Their Trailers' introduces fresh specifications for vehicle external lighting systems. Specifically, it designates cyan-green as the exclusive light color for the autonomous driving system indicator light. Automobiles equipped with Level 3 and higher autonomous driving capabilities are encouraged, but not required, to install an ADS (Autonomous Driving System) indicator light. This light activates automatically upon the function's engagement and cannot be manually toggled on or off by the driver. It deactivates automatically when the system is deactivated and must refrain from illuminating undefined lights when ADS is inactive.
Moreover, the new regulations impose constraints on the content displayed by external vehicle lighting. Apart from illuminated emblems, no textual displays are permitted for other lamp functions, and illuminated patterns must avoid forming anthropomorphic or related imagery. Furthermore, turn signals and reverse lights are prohibited from being combined with certain other lamps. For signal lights with adjustable brightness, the brightness must be adjusted uniformly across the entire light, and the use of gesture-controlled lamps or voice-activated lamp shutdowns is strictly forbidden.
It is recommended that the new standard be enforced starting January 1, 2028, with certain provisions allowing for a maximum transition period of 48 months. The deadline for submitting comments is set for December 19, 2026.
