On October 14, autonomous driving company Pony.ai, in partnership with Uber and Verne, heralded the official rollout and commencement of testing for its seventh-generation Robotaxi in Manchester, UK. A mere six days after formally announcing its London venture on October 8, Pony.ai has significantly broadened its operational scope in the UK. Manchester, as the UK's second-largest urban hub, boasts a variety of road conditions, rendering it an optimal site to assess the technology's versatility across varied environments. The simultaneous launch in two cities within a single week signifies Pony.ai's progression from the validation phase to the replication phase for its shared fleet model. Prior to this, Pony.ai had already pioneered Europe's inaugural commercial Robotaxi service in Zagreb, Croatia, and this model is now swiftly being replicated in the UK market.
