On October 14, as reported by the Liaoning Daily, Xu Kunlin, the Secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Xinwei, the Governor of Liaoning Province, held a meeting with a delegation led by Nicolai Peter, the Chairman of Germany's BMW Group, in Shenyang.
Xu Kunlin expressed his hope that BMW Group would further ramp up its investment in Liaoning. He suggested introducing a greater number of "Neue Klasse" models and cutting-edge innovative technologies, implementing landmark projects, and boosting the export of fully assembled vehicles from its Shenyang production base.
In addition, he underscored the significance of fortifying collaboration with local enterprises, universities, and research institutions in Liaoning. This includes deploying more functions, such as research and development (R&D) and testing, to facilitate the transformation and application of advanced technological achievements.
Moreover, Xu Kunlin expressed his anticipation that BMW Group would broaden its cooperation along the industrial and supply chains. By doing so, it could attract more supporting enterprises to establish themselves in Liaoning, jointly fostering the development of the automotive industry cluster.
Nicolai Peter responded by stating that BMW Group is expediting its electrification and intelligent transformation. The Shenyang production base serves as a pivotal strategic hub for its local R&D, production, and technological innovation. At present, the core components of the sixth-generation battery project have been fully localized. The "Neue Klasse" models are poised for localized mass production in Shenyang, heralding a new era of co-creation and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two parties.
