The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with three other departments, has jointly released the "Notice on Further Enhancing the Management of Innovative Design, Research and Development (R&D), Testing, and Verification Processes for Automotive Products (Draft for Public Comment)." This initiative is geared towards elevating product safety standards and fostering high-quality growth within the automotive sector. In terms of managing access to innovative design, the notice mandates that, commencing January 1, 2027, all newly submitted innovative design products must disclose their technical specifications and undergo rigorous safety and environmental protection evaluations in line with the "Technical Guidelines for Innovative Design of Automotive Products." Products that neglect to undergo the requisite testing and verification procedures or submit inaccurate information will be denied approval for public announcement. Already-approved products are required to furnish supplementary technical parameters and verification documents by July 1, 2027. Any products identified with safety risks post this deadline will be subject to production halts and recalls. Furthermore, the notice unequivocally bans the utilization of fully concealed door handles and the incorporation of foldable or flexible displays. All innovative designs are required to undergo exhaustive testing and verification to guarantee their safety and dependability.
