On September 28, Jin Yuzhi, Senior Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Yinwang Company, announced that Huawei has significantly boosted its R&D budget for the Qiankun intelligent driving system this year. The initial allocation of 18 billion yuan at the start of the year has now been escalated to over 19 billion yuan. Jin Yuzhi emphasized that the development of a sophisticated and practical autonomous driving system cannot be accomplished with a single, substantial investment. Instead, it necessitates continuous, substantial expenditures at the software level annually, along with uninterrupted investments in human resources and computing capabilities.

Jin Yuzhi further noted that developing an intelligent driving system in-house is a costly endeavor for automakers. It becomes challenging to offset these expenses when annual vehicle sales remain below one million units. In contrast, he highlighted that a collaborative approach between Huawei and automakers could pave the way for a mutually beneficial outcome.
