Tesla is set to open its first factory for mass production of heavy-duty electric trucks, the Semi, in Sparks, Nevada, marking Chief Executive Elon Musk's official foray into the heavy-duty truck market. The Semi truck was first unveiled in 2017, with small-scale deliveries to initial customers such as PepsiCo beginning in 2022. On Thursday, Tesla will hold an online ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the live broadcast scheduled for 9:00 PM Eastern Time (6:00 PM local time).
