On September 22, 2026, Wang Weiming, the Chief Engineer of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Chris Neese, the Deputy Secretary of New Zealand's Ministry for Urban Development, Environment, Regional Affairs, and Transport, co-chaired the second China-New Zealand New Energy Vehicle Dialogue in Beijing. Wang Weiming emphasized that the establishment of this dialogue mechanism represents a pragmatic step toward implementing the consensus forged by the leaders of both nations. The inaugural dialogue was held in Wellington, New Zealand, last December, establishing a solid foundation for industrial collaboration between the two countries. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is committed to further enhancing dialogue and exchanges with New Zealand in the realm of new energy vehicles.

Chris Neese remarked that this dialogue mechanism offers a crucial platform for policy exchanges between the two sides, and New Zealand is eager to continue this cooperative effort. Department heads from relevant sectors of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology were also present at the dialogue.
