As per reports, on September 18, 2026, Waymo, the autonomous driving arm of Alphabet, unveiled its ambitious plan to introduce a fully electric autonomous taxi service in Singapore by 2028. This move signifies Waymo's inaugural venture into the Southeast Asian market. The fleet of all-electric autonomous vehicles is set to arrive in Singapore in the upcoming months. From 2027 onwards, these vehicles will be manually operated by technical experts to acclimate to the local road and weather conditions. In 2028, Waymo aims to roll out a dedicated mobile app, enabling the public to conveniently book the autonomous taxi service.
