On September 11, as reported by Nikkei News, Nissan is set to uphold an annual production capacity of 1 million vehicles in Japan, despite shutting down one factory, by reallocating production tasks across its remaining facilities. On Thursday, Nissan disclosed that the production of vans currently handled by two factories in Fukuoka Prefecture will be shifted to the Tochigi Prefecture factory over the forthcoming two to three years. Furthermore, Nissan's Oppama factory, located in Kanagawa Prefecture, will halt operations by the end of fiscal 2027, in line with Nissan's broader strategy to shut down and reorganize seven vehicle assembly plants worldwide. Following the closure of the Oppama factory, Nissan's domestic production capacity in Japan will decrease to roughly 800,000 vehicles. However, when factoring in the vehicles produced by Mitsubishi Motors on Nissan's behalf, Nissan's overall domestic production capacity in Japan can still be preserved at approximately 1 million vehicles.
