China’s New Energy Vehicle Production and Sales Surge in August, Up 18.9% and 17.8% Year-on-Year

The latest data indicates that the monthly sales share of new energy vehicles (NEVs) has hit a record high. In August, NEV production and sales reached 1.653 million and 1.643 million units, respectively, marking year-on-year increases of 18.9% and 17.8%. NEVs accounted for 60.6% of total vehicle sales during the month. Regarding exports, China shipped 1.01 million vehicles in August, a 65.3% year-on-year increase, surpassing one million units for the third consecutive month. Notably, NEV exports reached 526,000 units, up 130% year-on-year, and have maintained a share exceeding 50% of total vehicle exports for three months running.
