On September 4, reports emerged indicating that China is actively enhancing its influence in shaping battery industry standards, with a particular focus on next-generation battery technology—solid-state batteries—aiming to bridge the gaps in international standards. On that very day, Wang Fang, the Chief Scientist from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, disclosed at the 2026 World Dynamic Battery Conference that three national standards—covering performance, safety, and lifespan specifications—within the "Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles" series have been set in motion. A draft of these standards is anticipated to be released for public comment by the year's end. Furthermore, China has taken the lead in proposing the inaugural international standard in the realm of solid-state batteries and is vigorously advancing the establishment of global standards in domains such as thermal management of power batteries and the recycling of decommissioned batteries.
