On September 4, in a bid to put into practice the consensus forged by the leaders of China and Germany and to further solidify the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations, the 10th meeting of the Sino-German Electric Vehicle Cooperation Steering Committee was successfully held via an online platform on September 1, 2026.

The meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Director-General Zhuang Jia, representing the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology in China, and Director-General Mr. Johannes Wieczorek from the Policy Affairs Division of the German Federal Ministry of Transport.

Throughout the meeting, both sides engaged in thorough discussions on a range of topics. These included the current state of new energy vehicle development in China and Germany, recent policy updates, the progress made at the Sino-German Electric Vehicle Innovation Support Center (SGEC), and potential avenues for future collaboration.

A consensus emerged to bolster technological innovation cooperation within the electric vehicle sector and to work hand in hand in promoting a green and low-carbon transformation.

Representatives from pertinent units of both countries were present at the meeting. These encompassed entities such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Embassy in Germany, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, Beijing Institute of Technology, Chery Automobile, BYD Auto from the Chinese side, as well as the German Federal Ministry of Transport, the German Embassy in China, the German National Organization for Transport Transition, and the German International Cooperation Agency from the German side.
