The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen unanimously approved the management's proposed 'Future Pact 2030' transformation plan on Thursday, which includes cutting approximately 50,000 jobs (including management positions) globally to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness. Combined with previous layoff arrangements, the total scale will reach 100,000, accounting for 15% of Volkswagen's global workforce. Meanwhile, Volkswagen plans to reduce its global model lineup by 50% by 2035 and streamline configuration options and derivative versions by 75% to lower R&D and production costs. Additionally, four German factories (Emden, Zwickau, Hannover, Neckarsulm) will gradually halt production, with future production tasks being transferred to other regions or phased out through natural attrition.
