The release of semi-annual reports for the A-share market in 2026 has wrapped up, with the performance of listed automotive companies capturing significant investor interest. Based on data from iFinD by Tonghuashun, 19 vehicle manufacturers listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, in addition to Geely Automobile, Chery Automobile, and BAIC Group listed in Hong Kong, have all finalized the disclosure of their semi-annual reports. Out of these, 16 automotive companies reported profits, making up 73% of the total; 10 automotive companies experienced a year-on-year rise in net profit, accounting for 45%. In contrast to passenger vehicles, which encountered profit pressures, the commercial vehicle sector witnessed a comprehensive rebound in the first half of the year, establishing itself as the area with the most certain growth prospects in the automotive market. Figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers indicated that commercial vehicle sales hit 2.297 million units in the first half of 2026, marking an 8.3% year-on-year increase, with heavy trucks, medium trucks, and passenger cars registering growth of 22.6%, 25.3%, and 5%, respectively. Listed commercial vehicle companies on the A-share market generally reported double-digit growth in both revenue and net profit.
