On September 3, news emerged that Volkswagen has set its sights on divesting some or all of its shares across roughly 750 companies in which it holds stakes. The primary objective behind this strategic move is to amass net liquidity of up to €15 billion by the year 2030. Concurrently, Volkswagen is also assessing the feasibility of relisting its European car rental subsidiary, Europcar, on the stock market.
