On September 3, the 2026 World Power Battery Conference convened in Yibin, Sichuan Province. Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), announced at the event that the ministry is set to intensify efforts to standardize the competitive landscape within the industry. This will involve bolstering industry operation monitoring and implementing dynamic capacity early-warning mechanisms. Additionally, the ministry will roll out quality enhancement programs to improve product consistency and quality oversight, ensuring a firm commitment to product quality and safety standards. By doing so, it aims to curb practices such as low-price competition and unchecked expansion, fostering a healthy and orderly market environment.

Furthermore, the ministry is committed to broadening the application horizons of power batteries. It will actively champion the widespread adoption of new energy heavy-duty trucks, spearhead pilot projects for zero-emission freight demonstration zones, and drive innovation in battery swapping models and vehicle-to-grid interaction. These initiatives are designed to facilitate the extensive utilization of power batteries across diverse sectors, including energy storage, transportation, and embedded intelligence.
